Well, Sarah did it again…she pulled off overseeing the building of her club’s Homecoming Parade float like last year. Actually, the float was a combined entry from several Christian clubs on campus…The Vine (Sarah’s), Intervarsity, Campus Crusade for Christ, Catholic Student Union, and Reformed Christian Fellowship . The students all worked hard on it, with great results. Oh, and they took 3rd place, which she was very pleased with. Photos are below.
The Homecoming theme this year was Old Skool and Sarah and another student came up with the idea of being ’60s Jesus People with a VW bus for the float. The two of them collaborated to come up with the design…Sarah even snapped a picture with her cell phone of an old VW bus she saw so they’d have a model to work from. Then Sarah was in charge of all the details…finding a trailer and a truck to tow it, acquiring the materials and the workforce, finding a place to build and house the float during the weeks before the parade, scheduling work days and delegating the work to be done, and getting the float and everybody to the parade on time. For 6 weeks she handled all of it, continued her work at Friday’s, had several rehearsals for a musical she’s doing in January, stayed active in her church, and still managed a mid-semester 3.6 GPA .
Nah…I’m not proud of her at all. ;D

Okay, I realize this is supposed to be “wordless” Wednesday, but I have to add a few. This photo of Laura is one of my absolute favorites. I didn’t take it…that credit goes to our incredibly talented friend Michelle, of under.grace photo. But this is what I aspire to. I want to be able to create art like this with my camera…for no other reason than it makes me feel good.

Nostalgia…something that takes you back to a time you wish you could return to…is the theme for this week’s I ♥ Faces photo challenge.
The timing of this is interesting because all summer long I’ve wanted to go back to those lazy summer days we used to enjoy. With all five of us working, going on mission trips, tae kwon do classes, summer musical productions, and the active social lives of 3 young adults, there has been nothing lazy about this summer at all. Certainly not like the summer days this photo brings to mind…

Yeah….those most definitely were the days.
See all the entries at I ♥ Faces.

My youngest starts his senior year of high school tomorrow…and I suddenly find myself overwhelmed with emotion.
That honestly surprises me.
After all, my active homeschooling role has been winding down for several years now. Scotty already has a year of college dual-enrollment under his belt. Sarah’s thriving at LU. Laura sucessfully started her first college year this past week. It’s not like I haven’t been prepared for this.
But for some reason it just hit me…tomorrow begins my truly last year of homeschooling.
Who knew when we started this adventure 17 years ago it would feel like the blink of an eye when it finally came to an end.
My mama’s heart is a little sad tonight.
